There are so many different types of lasers available in clinics. What is the difference and what can lasers do for your skin?
Laser treatment for the face, also known as a laser facial or facial laser treatment, can help to reduce pigmentation such as freckles, solar lentigos and melasma. When done regularly, it can help to stimulate collagen growth, reduce pore size and improve skin rejuvenation. Laser facials can help to brighten and even out skin tone.
How do laser facials work?
The laser facial treatment is done with the Q-Switch ND Yag laser. This laser targets and helps to break down melanin in the skin. As this laser is a painless, zero downtime laser, patients can resume their daily activities immediately after treatment.
Each laser facial treatment is quick and effective. Laser facials can be done approximately 2-4 weeks apart.
How many sessions of laser facials will I need?
Laser treatments for pigmentation will require a few sessions to see good lightening. The number of sessions required will depend on the type of pigmentation that you have. This can range between 2-10 sessions.
Is there a limit to the number of laser facial treatments one can do?
Not at all. Laser facial treatments when done regularly, helps in anti-aging and collagen stimulation. This helps in the maintenance of skin health.
Will laser facials thin my skin?
Q-Switch ND Yag lasers do not cause skin thinning. The laser process does not involve any ablation and in fact stimulates collagen growth to further improve skin quality.
Ablative laser treatments such as fractional CO2 laser can help to reduce pore size and smoothen out acne scars through laser skin resurfacing. In addition, this laser helps to stimulate collagen growth that is great for skin rejuvenation.
How does the fractional CO2 laser work?
Fractional Co2 laser for acne scar treatment works through resurfacing of the skin. This remodels existing acne scar tissue and stimulates collagen growth to smoothen scars.
How many laser sessions will I need for acne scar treatment?
About 3-5 sessions of the laser treatment will be required to smoothen out the scars. Deeper or more stubborn scars may require more sessions. For further improvement, a combination of acne scar treatment methods ( link to ultimate acne scar program) can help to achieve even better results.
What is the procedure like?
Numbing cream is applied to the skin for 15-30 mins. This makes the procedure more comfortable. The fractional co2 laser beams are then directed to the skin resurface for treatment. This takes about 10-15 mins.
The procedure is associated with 2-7 days of downtime. Immediately after treatment, the skin will appear red and pinkish. In a couple of days, light brown scabs will form. It takes another few days for the scabs to fully fall off, revealing underlying smoother skin.
Can I see results instantly?
Some improvements can be seen after the initial laser treatment. As collagen stimulation takes time, these improvements will continue to improve over the next 3-6 months.
Fractional CO2 laser can help with acne scar treatments, pore refining and collagen stimulation.
Laser treatment for the body
Laser treatments are not limited to only the face.
