What Are Cheek Fillers?

Cheek fillers help to lift our mid-face and replace lost volume. As we age, our cheeks lose volume and begin to sag.

This results in deflated cheeks and the deepening of tear troughs, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines, contributing to unwanted lower face jowling. Jowls refer to the sagging skin below the jawline that develops with age.

Cheek filler treatment can help improve this, giving you a more refreshed look*. One critical aspect of anti-ageing in this area is the rejuvenation of the cheeks through cheek fillers.

How is It Done?

The mid-face is naturally elevated when volume loss in the cheeks is treated, reducing the other indications of ageing listed above*.

Cheek fillers not only restore lost volume but also contribute to the prominence of the cheeks. This results in the enhancement of a gentle Ogee curve (double S-shaped curve) โ€” a symbol of youth*.

A topical numbing cream is first applied to the cheeks. The cheek filler procedure in Singapore is made more comfortable as a specially selected filler containing lignocaine (a numbing agent) is used. A few injection points (usually three to five points per cheek) are sufficient to create enough volume and lift.

The cheek filler procedure takes approximately 20-30 minutes. Depending on the volume of replacement required, one might require between 1-3cc of cheek fillers on average.

Are There Any Side Effects with Cheek Fillers?

Significant side effects are rare and there is essentially no downtime. Nonetheless, there could be very minor bruising, swelling, or needle marks. In the event that any of these effects do manifest, they usually dissipate quickly.

What's More?

Yes, absolutely! In addition to replacing the lost volume, reducing the sunken tear troughs, improving the appearance of nasolabial folds, and reducing jowling, it can lift the mid-face and add a vibrance to your appearance*.

When done properly, the cheek filler treatment will lift the face, giving it a slimmer appearance*.

Cheek fillers won’t make your face look chubbier or fatter unless they are overfilled.

Generally, cheek fillers may last between six months to two years. However, this depends on various factors, such as the type of filler used, its consistency, and the area injected. Additionally, the speed at which your body metabolises the filler will also influence its longevity.

It is not necessary to continue cheek filler injections forever. It is absolutely fine if you decide not to continue with maintenance cheek filler injections!

With time, the remaining cheek fillers will gradually dissolve. Your face and skin will definitely not become worse than before you started, even if you choose to stop the cheek filler injections.

In fact, it may still be slightly better than before. This is because cheek filler injections creates collagen that helps to maintain the desired effect for a longer period of time*.

Cheek fillers, when done in appropriate amounts, provide such natural enhancements that, most of the time, other people canโ€™t tell what has been done.

Cheek fillers can help enhance your natural beauty and do not leave the face looking stiff or fake.

The quantity of syringes needed will vary depending on the volume and lift required. For a mild enhancement, a 1cc syringe is usually adequate. However, for extremely sunken cheeks, up to 4cc may be needed.

This may sound strange, but different people do have different preferences when it comes to how they want their cheeks to look. An experienced doctor will be able to point out the areas that need filling in order to replace the lost volume and create a good lift.

Make sure to discuss the look you wish to achieve with your doctor during the consultation. For instance, you may wish to have high cheekbones or apple cheeks.

This may affect the areas of cheek filler injections, and the amount of product used to achieve your desired outcome.

Cheek filler injections are generally well tolerated. A slight needle prick can be felt when the needle enters the skin. As the filler contains lidocaine, discomfort is further reduced.

Facial massage is not recommended within the first two weeks after cheek filler injections. It is advisable to wait until the filler has fully settled.
